Account Executive, London EdTech
London | £50,000 base | £80,000 OTE | Uncapped commission
We’re working with a fast growing international EdTech scale up that is expanding its UK sales team.
The company works with schools and Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) and is looking for an Account Executive who can build relationships with education leaders, create their own pipeline and close new business.
This is a full cycle sales role with plenty of autonomy. You’ll be expected to find opportunities, run strong discovery conversations, demonstrate the product, manage multiple stakeholders and take deals through to close.
There isn’t a rigid sales playbook waiting for you. You’ll have support from an experienced commercial team, but you’ll also be expected to test ideas, learn quickly and take ownership of your territory.
What you’ll be doing
• Building and managing your own sales pipeline
• Prospecting into schools and MATs across the UK
• Running discovery calls and product demonstrations
• Managing opportunities from first conversation through to contract
• Building relationships with teachers, school leaders, Trust leadership teams and senior decision makers
• Understanding customers’ digital, pedagogical and commercial priorities
• Managing pricing and commercial conversations confidently
• Attending education conferences, trade shows and networking events
• Visiting schools and customers across the UK
• Working closely with the wider Sales, Customer Success and Product teams
• Keeping your pipeline and forecast accurate and up to date
Who we’re looking for
You’ll probably have at least two years of B2B sales experience within SaaS and/or EdTech.
Experience selling into schools, MATs or the wider education sector would be particularly useful.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
• Enjoys winning new business and is motivated by targets
• Can create pipeline rather than relying only on inbound leads
• Builds trust quickly with different types of people
• Is comfortable speaking with classroom teachers as well as CEOs and senior Trust leaders
• Takes responsibility when deals don’t progress and looks at what they can change
• Is curious about education and takes time to understand each customer
• Is comfortable talking about money, pricing and commercial terms
• Enjoys networking and meeting customers face to face
• Wants to keep developing as a salesperson
• Responds well to direct feedback and coaching
• Is comfortable challenging customers rather than simply presenting product features
The sales team uses approaches including Challenger Sales and Mega Deals, so you’ll need to be open to learning and developing your existing sales approach.
What current success looks like:
Strong performance in this role isn’t simply about sending more emails. It's more about understanding the organisations you’re targeting, researching their educational and digital strategies and building relationships with the people involved in the buying decision.
People in this role are commercially driven and want to perform well financially, while also understanding that selling into education is built on trust. They are passionate about pedagogy and helping students learn more effectively.
Package
Base salary: £50,000 + OTE: Approximately £30,000
Commission: Uncapped
The package also includes company benefits and opportunities to participate in international company events.
Location: This is a London based role with a five day office policy.
You’ll also travel regularly to schools, customer meetings, conferences and education events across the UK, typically around one day each week.
Some weeks will involve more travel depending on customer meetings and events.
